After prayer and meditation this morning, I was led to Genesis 3:1-7.
In this chapter, God had given access to any fruit in the garden except the fruit on the middle tree. So basically, they could have buffet style with the fruit on the other trees- they could have as much as they wanted, they could pig out, let that digest and then go for seconds, if that’s what’s they wanted. They just could NOT eat or even touch the fruits from the middle tree…..or they would die.
Now, that was clear and understood.
Then the serpent came along and questioned God’s instructions in a manipulative manner. I can visualize how he was looking when he asked. I see him having that “Really Face.” This is the serpent, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”
The woman confidently replies, “Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.'”
The serpent then replied, ““You won’t die!” “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”
At that moment, she was convinced….although she KNEW what God said!
I received two messages from this.
How often do we allow the enemy to come in our lives and deceive us…..although we know what GOD has already said?
The enemy says you will always be where you are, but in Psalms 92:12, it says, “You will flourish like Palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.
The enemy says it will never happen, but in Luke 18:27, it says, “What’s impossible with man is possible with God.
The enemy says your suffering will never end, but in 1 Peter 5:10, it says, “After you have suffered just a little while, he will restore, support, strengthen, and place you on a firm foundation.”
The enemy says God has abandoned you, but in Deuteronomy 31:8, it says, “Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
You have to know what GOD SAID! You have to know that all else is irrelevant when God has spoken!
It even says in Isaiah 55:11 that His word will not return void. His word will always produces fruit, accomplishes all He wants it to, and prospers everywhere He sends it!
So, YES, you will get over the hurt from that failed relationship. YES, you will receive that job promotion and your finances will go from just enough to more than enough. YES, you will marry and have kids. YES, you are worthy and beautiful/handsome!
You are what God says you are and you will do what He says you will do.
The enemy loves to keep our focus fixed on the things we don’t have or the things we can’t have. We can have everything we want and need, and then the enemy- like the serpent- comes along and shifts our focus from our yard to the yard of others. They had a surplus of fruit on the trees in “their” yard, but because the fruit from “somebody else’s yard” seemed prettier and more beautiful, she desired those and went after what God said she couldn’t have.
What’s for you is for you! What’s for others is for others. Be grateful and thankful for the things and people in your life. Nothing pleases God more than a grateful heart!!!!!
